Who are we?

PORTAL is an online business training consultancy. We provide English Language and Business Skills training. This training is conducted via video conference (specifically for 1-to-1 and group classes) and via pre-recorded video's. 

  

We collect and store the information you provide to us when you sign up through our website or give us personal information through other means such as social media, email or by telephone. 

This information is at a minimum your email address. Further information may include your name, contact details, country of residence, timezone, skype name or other social media or video conferencing identity. 

If you become a Portal client, we also record details of the lessons you take including dates and times of lessons, the work covered and comments from you or your tutors on the lessons. 

If you contact our customer support team we may also retain copies of any email or other correspondence. 

We use this information for:
  • Supplying you with products and services, responding to your enquiries and other normal business transactions
  • Informing you about our products and services
  • Informing you about our marketing initiatives, for example, discounts and promotions.

 

If you access our Learning Management Service (CanvasLMS), they will collect and retain on our behalf, your name and email address and log how you interact with the platform, including any communications between the student and the tutor. CanvasLMS's GDPR Policy

If you access our Private Communication Workspace, which is provided by Slack, they will collect and retain on our behalf, your name and email address and will log all communications between student and tutor that take place on the platform. Slack's GDPR Policy.
When you attend classes via video conference, the tools we use are as follows:

We store names, email addresses and country information remotely on our password-protected email mailing service provider and Campaign Monitor platform. Mailchimp's Privacy Policy

From time to time we may share your data with professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants or consultants in order to get assistance in the conduct of our business. We do our best to ensure that all such third parties treat the data we share with them in strict confidence and with professional integrity.

 

PORTAL stores and processes your data in databases, spreadsheets, in email archives and in contact management systems. Access to these systems is password-protected. Our database and websites run on secure servers managed by industry leading hosts.

 

On your request, we will provide you with a copy of all the data we hold that is connected with your name and/or your email address. If you want us to stop using your data for one or more of the purposes described above, please let us know. If you want us to delete some or all of your data, please let us know and we will help as much as possible. However, please be aware that by removing your data it may not then be possible for us to continue to provide you with services. Furthermore, the Spanish tax authorities require us to hold some data for four years. We will also need to keep some records in case a dispute should arise in future.
